Before diving into lesson planning, materials, and classroom management, we need to understand what it really means to be a teacher, how different methodologies shape our practice, and how we can align our teaching with existing curriculum and standards. Module Structure This module consists of three key lessons: Being a Teacher: Strategies and MethodologiesIn this lesson, we’ll explore what it means to be a teacher beyond just delivering lessons. We’ll look at different teaching methodologies, their impact on learning, and how to choose the right approach based on your students' needs. You’ll also reflect on your own teaching style and how to make the most of your strengths. Curriculum and Standards: Case AnalysisEvery teacher works within a framework—whether it’s an official curriculum, a set of learning goals, or an institution’s guidelines. This lesson will help you understand how to navigate language teaching standards, syllabi, and curriculum design so that you can structure your lessons effectively and meet educational requirements. Example Activities with Different MethodologiesTheory is important, but practical application is key! In this lesson, we’ll explore a variety of teaching activities and techniques that align with different methodologies. You’ll get hands-on experience designing and adapting activities that engage students and support their language development. How to Make the Most of This Module Engage actively: Participate in discussions and reflect on your own experiences. Try new approaches: Experiment with different strategies to see what works best for you and your students. Ask questions: This is a space for learning and growth, so take advantage of it!
